This is just a "hold over" journal, an update before I add more picture and post my NGE chapter 42B, which is gonna be HUGE! It's more like 2 parts in one...
Global warming? Look no farther then my travels in the last year Ive flown at least once for every watcher that I have and a little extra so for those of you that dont fly or havent flown a lot, I got you covered.
One year at Piedmont Airlines (7/30/2007 to 7/30/2008)
Visited 9 State Parks in Pennsylvania and 43 National Parks in the United States.
Drove 20,500 miles with my car and another 1781 miles with rental cars for a total of 22,281 miles. (Approximately double the average American driver)
Flew a total of 103,919 miles in the air. (Standard miles, not nautical) That is equal to approximately 104 months of standard electricity usage and pollution. (I burned the equivalent of 8 years and 8 months worth energy and caused that much pollution with all that flying)
Flew 177 times- 174 times on US Airways, 1 time on United Airlines, and 2 times on Southwest Airlines.
Spent 345 hours 39 minutes in the air. (14 days 9 hours 39 minutes)
Visited 22 different airports in the United States on these flights. (MDT, CLT, ORD, PHL, DFW, MCI, PIT, DTW, DCA, MSY, LAS, HOU, SFO, PHX, BOS, TPA, ATL, STL, AUS, IND, MDW, TUS)
Yeah, blame me for the warming and keep in mind that at the time of me writing this (9/07/2008) that in 9 months, Im already up to 146 flights and 94021 miles and I still havent gone on my vacation yet thatll be another 10+ flights and 25000 miles on that trip alone
8 years of driving-
With the period ending on 8/25/2008, Ive had my drivers license for 8 years. Ive driven 194,000 miles or 312,340 kilometers, for those out there that are metrically inclined.
The newly christened Asuka plated 2002 Buick Century Custom Special Edition that I drive has been to 43 states, I have driven in 45 states in that 8 years.
Ive driven from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska- as far north as you can drive in North America down to Brownsville, Texas and from Arizona over to Maine- and the car has been at the Pacific, Atlantic, and Arctic Oceans. (Almost on the last one- the ocean is through secure, private oil land)
Ive only owned 2 cars- a 1990 Oldsmobile Delta Royale 88, which I had from March 2000 to December 31st, 2001. (That was my mothers old car) I got my Buick on New Years Eve with only 13 miles on it, brand new. Current mileage is 165,800 miles as of 9/7/2008. Not bad for 6 years and 8 months, huh?
Ive been to about 175 national parks in that 8 years.
Average per year: 194,000/8 years= 24250 miles or 39042.5 kilometers per year of driving.
Imagine how much gas Ive burned and what my carbon footprint would be. It'd be a damn big footprint!
And yes, blame me for global warming, its okay. Thoughts and/or comments on this are welcome.
