Rules:

This is my contest for July and August... and the theme is "Crossover Costumes" This contest will deal with taking characters from one anime and dressing them as others. Example- Asuka Soryu from NGE dressed as Misty from Pokemon.


Entries will be judged on the following:

Color- How well the colors work together and how true they are to the respective character.

In Character- How true to the character the idea is. Some characters are perfect matches for others... but if you can make something "different" and make it work, I think it's worth doing. Being in character for the original, base character is the key.

Background/Setting: Pick a appropriate background for the picture, like a Halloween or costume party, or a anime convention. Something that you might see the characters at... it could be something fantasy as well, but please explain your reasoning behind your Background or setting in the artists comments.

Lineart- How well drawn the lines are in the picture, how smooth it flows.

Grading would be on a scale from 1 to 10, 10 being the best. These will be averaged out between the categories to get a final number and then put against each other.

NOTE: The six judges cannot participate in the contest itself, so if you're going to enter for sure, don't sign up. (I'm judge #7-there has to be an odd number or there'd be a tie!)

Here's the other contest details- be sure and read what the judges will be looking for as well (The four categories above- Color, In Character, Background/Setting, and Lineart)

1) Contest ends on 8/16/2008 at 7 AM Eastern Time in the USA. (Has been extended from 7/31/08)

2) Voting will commence at that time and will run for one week or until the seven judges are finished. The winner will be the one with the best overall average at the close of the poll. If there is a tie, I will either hold another run-off poll between the two winners or give both the 1st place prize. Either choice is at my discretion.

3) 1st prize is a 3 month subscription to Deviantart. Winner takes all!

4) Animes I'd like to see crossed over with one another: NGE, Princess Nine, Stratos 4, Love Hina, Ranma 1/2, Sailor Moon, Pokemon, Full Metal Panic, Ai Yori Aoshi, Onegai Teacher, Onegai Twins, Trigun, Noir, Magic Knights Rayearth, Ikki Tousen, Godannar, Madlax, Martian Succesor Nadesico, and Green Green.

I will accept crossing characters from one of the above series with something else, please note me first with your idea or leave a comment.

5) Minimum of two characters- one male, one female. Any more then that is fine, like if you want to draw all three Tendo sisters as Sailor Moon characters, for example.

6) The scenerio for this is a costume party or Halloween- tell me in your artists comments who you picked and why they decided to dress like "so and so"- mention which anime their costume comes from and who they are portraying.

7) Multiple entries are allowed.

8) Entries can be submitted as soon as they are done, you don't have to wait until 8/15/2008 to submit them.


This is a pretty open-ended contest, I will provide some more examples below of some crossover costumes that I'd like to see.

Akane Tendo (ranma 1/2) as Sailor Mercury (Sailor Moon), Asuka (NGE) as Misty (Pokemon), Shinji (NGE) as Ash Ketchum (Pokemon). Sailor Jupiter (Sailor Moon) as Ukyo Kuonji (Ranma 1/2) or vice versa- they do look a lot alike. Rei Ayanami (NGE) as Aoi (Ai Yori Aoshi)

That's just a few examples... use your imagination here. The more original the idea and costume, the better in my opinion. You want to get people's attention and get them to vote for you and your creativity, after all.

Contest #7 will deal with South America, since I've already had contests themed in Australia and Africa. I will be picking somewhere exotic in Asia, Europe, and North America for future contests, so please don't feel like I'm ignoring your continent! ^_^
